Poland willingly collaborated?
As co-author of a book about Poland in World War II (A Question of Honor, Knopf, 2003), I take strong exception to Mays's view that Poland, along with Germany and Romania, "willingly colluded with the Nazis in their attempted destruction of the Jewish people." He's right, of course, about Germany and Romania -- and could have added other countries, e.g. France and Norway, where pro-Nazi or Nazi regimes existed. But Poland, despite some individual acts of collaboration, was the ONLY nation invaded & defeated by Germany that NEVER had a collaborationist government & NEVER surrendered!
