Poverty? I'll Give You Poverty.
Dear Editor,

Few would disagree with the St. Vincent de Paul Society stand against poverty. However, there seems to be some inconsistency in the St. Vincent de Paul message.

A recent decision banning a group of disabled people from using the parish hall at St. Clements in Dartmouth sent the organizers to the local St. Vincent de Paul parish for help. They wanted to hold their dances at St. Vincent but were told that St. Vincent would lose too much money renting to this group.

No doubt the society does good in the community, but not everywhere, and not to everyone.
