Msgr. Murphy looks at the specific — and
absolutely vital role — of the teacher in passing on our cherished
faith to newer generations. In this role, it is not enough to "teach"?
the catechism, but to also live out the faith. At the same time, it is
not enough to model Christian morality, but today’s teachers also have
to know what it is their church teaches. It is a mix that will require
even more of us as the secular society becomes even more aggressive in
its intolerance of religious faith.
