TORONTO — Civil servants are not just bureaucrats, and they’ve got a conference to prove it.
Toronto Poet Laureate Fr. Pier Giorgio Di Cicco, a contributor to The Catholic Register, will be among the speakers at “Beyond Bureaucracy: A Festival of Public Service, Creativity and the Public Good” Nov. 15-16 at the University of Toronto’s Hart House. Di Cicco will speak about “A Creative Public Service.”
“The purpose of the art is... the seeing of passion at its own source, the joy of seeing what it has made and the impulse to regenerate that joy in an atmosphere of risk, adventure and trust,” said Di Cicco.
Di Cicco’s keynote address kicks off the conference at 1 p.m. Nov. 15. AIDS activist Stephen Lewis will also speak.
