Brother Grazia died, without
saying goodbye.
Last time I saw him we
spoke of hands.
I weep for others
who died in our remorse.
The lake, without him;
the boat is empty.
His gestures unfinished,
I finish
and inhabit our laughter.
On the far side of the lake,
where the dragonflies skim the water,
the statues of saints
sleep in the alcoves of prayer.
