Notre Dame Sisters fight for justice, peace, environment

ImageOTTAWA - The Sisters of Notre Dame in this city are reaching around the world with a new web site devoted to justice, peace and the environment.

On Nov. 22, the Congregation of Notre Dame, Visitation Province Office of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) launched the web site www.jpic-visitation.org.

“The purpose of the site is to help the broader community know where the members of the Congregation of Notre Dame stand on key issues and where we can all participate in actions for the protection of the environment and social justice and peace,” says JPIC Co-ordinator Joe Gunn.

The issues of climate change, overseas mining operations, poverty and trafficking can be explored on the site, which also features opportunities for action.

The Congregation of Notre Dame is divided into provinces (larger groupings of sisters) and regions (smaller groupings of sisters). One of these is Visitation Province (primarily English-speaking Canadians).
