TORONTO - A Catholic Zen roshi from Texas is coming to town to explain what Buddhism teaches about compassion in a world that often fails to live up to our expectations.
Prof. Ruben Habito, a professor of world religions at the Perkins School of Theology in Dallas’s Southern Methodist University, and a Zen teacher or roshi at the Maria Kannon Zen Centre, will speak on “Awakening to Compassion: Buddhist Wisdom for a Wounded World” Jan. 26, 10 a.m. at the Scarboro Missions headquarters, 2685 Kingston Rd.,
Habito is author of Healing Breath: Zen for Christians and Buddhists in a Wounded World and Experiencing Buddhism: Ways of Wisdom and Compassion.
