Rights vs. religion

ImageA politician, a philosopher, a political scientist and a “scholar-at-risk” will gather to talk about who is afraid of what when it comes to religion and human rights at a two-hour public chat on the campus of the University of Toronto April 2.

Laval University philosopher Jocelyn Maclure, one of the experts on Quebec’s reasonable accommodation commission, Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons Bill Blaikie and Ramin Jahangebloo, Massey College Scholar-at-Risk and research fellow in the U of T Centre for Ethics, will gather at the Munk Centre’s Campbell Conference Facility, 1 Devonshire Place, to discuss “Religion, Human Rights and the Problem of Fear” from 3-5 p.m. Author and political scientist Janice Gross Stein will moderate.

The event is free, but you have to sign up in advance at the Munk Centre’s Religion in the Public Sphere web site, www.chass.utoronto.ca/rps. Click News and Events and follow the links.
