TORONTO - A healthy dose of silence and the discipline of meditation are on tap at St. John’s Convent, 233 Cummer Ave. in Toronto, when the Christian Meditation Community of Toronto hosts its May 11-13 retreat. Benedictine monk Fr. Paul Geraghty will lead the Friday evening to Sunday afternoon exploration of “The Infinite Spaciousness of God: Insights for the Journey of Meditation.”

Geraghty is a chaplain at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, the priest responsible for St. Anthony of Padua parish in Montreal, and a leader of Padua, a centre devoted to urban spirituality. He keeps the spirit of the old Benedictine priory in Montreal alive with his involvement in the Christian Meditation Community in Montreal.

The retreat leader will deliver four in-depth talks. The retreatants will maintain silence from Friday evening prayer to lunch on Sunday.

The full retreat cost, including two nights accommodation and five meals, is $200 per person. For Toronto residents who wish to commute to and from the convent it’s $140. The convent can be reached on the 42 East bus from the Finch subway station.
