ImageTORONTO - The 2007 ShareLife campaign is only halfway through and already the archdiocese of Toronto’s fund-raising arm has reached 44 per cent of its goal.
The annual campaign raises funds for ShareLife’s 34 member agencies. It began on March 25 and runs through June 3. This year’s goal is to raise $12 million.

“I’m always excited to see others give to people in need and to see how much people care,” said Bill Steinburg, communications manager for the archdiocese.

Fund-raisers are held by parishes and Catholic schools throughout the archdiocese. Some events this year include a concert hosted by St. Ignatius Loyola parish in Mississauga with the Toronto Mass Choir on March 25 that raised $5,000, and Cardinal Newman High School also held its fourth annual teachers vs. students ShareLife hockey game that raised $1,330.

Last year ShareLife helped more than 200,000 troubled and needy people in the archdiocese of Toronto and around the world.

“Our funding helps shelters, needy people, everyone. The money we give really helps these people,” said Steinburg.
