TORONTO — The Catholic Civil Rights League announced the recipients of this year’s Archbishop Exner Award June 7. This year’s winners are J. Fraser Field and Jim Hughes.
Field is from Powell River, B.C. He is the founder and editor of the Catholic Education Resource Centre , an online library to help with Catholic teaching. Field created the web site in 1998.

Hughes is from Toronto and has served the pro-life movement for more than 40 years. He is the president of Campaign Life Coalition , which supports the Canadian pro-life movement with the government. He is also the vice president of the International Right to Life Federation.

The award was created by the league in 2004 in honour of  Archbishop Adam Exner, then archbishop of Vancouver and League chaplain, when he retired.

The award is given to people who demonstrate achievements in the service of the faith by Catholic laity.
