Nuns hear stories of tragedy as they help migrants who land in Italy

Payan says he has no choice but to try to work in Europe to support his widowed mother and eight siblings after taking a loan of more than $10,000 to make the two-month journey by bus and foot to Italy.

Palermo archdiocese to transfer chapel to first synagogue in Sicily in 500 years

ROME – More than 500 years after the Jews were expelled from Sicily, a tiny Jewish community will open its first synagogue in the island’s capital city of Palermo.
