Quick fixes, denial won't stop climate change, Pope says

Pope Francis, meeting Nov. 11 with leaders of the Pacific Islands Forum, urged international cooperation to protect the environment and the world's oceans. Representatives of the island nations met the pope as the U.N. was holding a climate change review conference in Bonn, Germany.
VATICAN CITY – Denial or indifference when it comes to climate change will not help further honest research or facilitate finding adequate solutions, Pope Francis told government leaders attending a meeting on implementing the Paris accord.

Time to tackle global warming running out, Pope tells climate summit

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon waves next to Peruvian Environment Minister Manuel Pulgar-Vidal as they arrive for the opening of the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Lima, Peru, Dec. 9. In a message to Pulgar-Vidal, Pope Francis said the time to solve the problem of climate change "is running out." He also insisted climate change is a serious moral problem.

VATICAN CITY - Tackling the problem of climate change is a serious ethical and moral responsibility, Pope Francis told negotiators from around the world meeting for a climate summit in Lima, Peru.
