Covenant House calls on Ontario government to do more to fight sex trafficking

Covenant House appealed to the Ontario premier to take action against sex trafficking. TORONTO - Canada's largest homeless youth agency is calling on Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne to adopt a broader, more co-ordinated approach to combat the scourge of sex trafficking.

Laudato Si' front and centre at Americas' climate summit

California Governor Jerry Brown told Climate Summit of the Americas delegates July 8 that Pope Francis’ discussion of climate change as a moral issue is critical.

TORONTO - California Governor Jerry Brown, in Toronto for the Climate Summit of the Americas, claims he is travelling with a copy of Pope Francis’ environmental encyclical Laudato Si’ and “going through it carefully.”

Student strike has minimal effect on Catholic schools

TORONTO - As thousands of parents pulled their children from school for a week in protest of Ontario’s sex-ed curriculum, it seems the majority taking part are from the province’s public schools.

Speaking of sex

Ontario’s Ministry of Education has launched an online survey regarding the sex-ed component of a new health and physical education curriculum for elementary schools. According to an information package, the ministry is seeking input from 4,000 selected parents — one from every elementary school in the province — as it finalizes a new curriculum for implementation next September.
