OAKVILLE, ONT. - Two years after Rogers Sportsnet fired anchor Damian Goddard after he penned a tweet in support of traditional marriage, he says the incident has made him the man he is today, and he’s launching a new online venture to prove it.

Argentina will send more pilgrims to World Youth Day 2013 in Brazil than any other foreign country, according to organizers. Members of the local organizing committee for World Youth Day say that, with the recent election of an Argentine Pope, they expect up to 2.5 million young people at the international event in Rio de Janeiro.

GUELPH, ONT. - The Ignatius Jesuit Centre startles the newcomer with its beauty and a sense of peace. The dozens of activities taking place seem to rise from the land itself, purposeful, harmonious and deeply satisfying.

Now in its third year, The Catholic Register’s Easter drawing contest has proven to be a hit with children aged six to 14. The biggest challenge continues to be selecting winners and choosing images to grace these pages from among the large stack of commendable entries.

A NEW ERA

The Catholic Register is conducting its fifth annual Easter drawing contest. The top entry in each of 3 categories will receive a $50 gift certificate for a day at the movies. The winning drawings will appear in The Register’s Easter edition, March 27, 2016; and will appear on The Register’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

Rules
• The contest is open to all children enrolled in Catholic elementary schools programs.
• One prize will be awarded to the top entry in each of these categories: Grades 7-8, Grades 4-6 and Grades 1-3.
• Entries must be original, in colour, drawn or painted on an 8.5” x 11” page, and illustrate some aspect of Christ’s Resurrection on the first Easter morning.
• For electronic submissions: minimum resolution is 300dpi, in jpeg or PDF format.
• A completed entry form is required for every entry. All entries must include the signature/authorization of a parent
or guardian. Entries become the property of The Catholic Register.
• Electronic submissions can be sent to lucybarco@catholicregister.org. (E-mail entries must include: Child's Name, Address, Phone number, Grade, Age, and parent/guardian authorization.)
Submission deadline is noon March 18, 2016.
