Rimouski Archbishop Fournier's sudden death a blow to Church

Archbishop Pierre-Andre Fournier of Rimouski, Quebec died on Jan. 10 at the age of 71. He served as the president for the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Quebec during the debates of euthanasia and a secular charter.
OTTAWA - Rimouski Archbishop Pierre-André Fournier died suddenly Jan. 10 in hospital shortly after losing consciousness and being taken to hospital by ambulance.

Quebec bishops condemn 'dangerous' euthanasia proposal

Margaret Somerville said the Quebec government is confusing palliative care, the refusal of life support and pain treatment.

OTTAWA - Quebec’s promised bill to bring in “medical aid in dying” is a “dangerous” proposal that confuses medical care with euthanasia, said Quebec’s bishops, joining numerous groups in condemning the plan.
