Pope will declare teen a saint during youth synod

Sulprizio was born April 13, 1817, in the Abruzzo region near Pescara. As a young boy, he developed a gangrenous leg while working strenuously at an uncle's blacksmith shop. The young teen faced tremendous pain with patience and serenity and offered up his sufferings to God.
VATICAN – Pope Francis added an Italian teenager to the list of people he will formally recognize as saints Oct. 14 during the monthlong meeting of the world Synod of Bishops on young people.
