St. Padre Pio’s story still touching lives as thousands in Toronto venerate his relics

Thousands came to St. Philip Neri Parish in Toronto Sept. 18-19 to venerate the relics of tSt. Padre Pio. The saint, pictured above, bore the pain of the stigmata for 50 years.

Fr. Louis Mousseau was a 21-year-old seminarian with the Capuchin Friars when he met 81-year-old St. Padre Pio in 1968, just three months before the death of the legendary priest.

Religious sister who worked with Padre Pio dies at 101

SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO, Italy – Sister Consolata di Santo, one of the first religious sisters to work in the hospital developed by St. Padre Pio, died March 2 at age 101, according to the Italian publication Avvenire.

Padre Pio’s body leaves the Vatican after drawing thousands of pilgrims

Pope Francis prays in front of the coffins containing the exhumed bodies of Sts. Padre Pio and Leopold Mandic displayed in St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican Feb. 6. The bodies were brought to Rome at the request of Pope Francis for the Year of Mercy.

VATICAN CITY - The body of one of Italy’s favourite saints, Padre Pio, has left the Vatican, carried out in a distinctive crystal coffin after nearly a week on display inside St. Peter’s Basilica as part of the Jubilee of Mercy.
