St. Paul University unveils centre to tackle abuse

Ottawa’s Saint Paul University is the home of the new Centre for Safeguarding Minors and Vulnerable Persons. The centre is the first of its kind in North America.

OTTAWA -- The abuse started when Veronique Garnier was just 13 years old. She was abused by her parish priest, who was also a family friend.

Former missionary sees vision come to life with Centre Oblat at Saint Paul campus

Br. Leonardo Rego, the Oblate-in-Residence at the Ottawa university, transformed the Oblate Lacombe province’s centre for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) into the Centre Oblat.

OTTAWA – Br. Leonardo Rego saw his vision come to life when the Centre Oblat — A Voice for Justice officially opened at Saint Paul University on Feb. 15.

Catholic university under fire for cancelling abortion film

The film, Vessel, was scheduled as part of an annual event called “Choice! Birth and Baby Film Festival,” which had been held at the university for six years without controversy. This year’s film, however, chronicled a woman who provides abortions aboard ships anchored off the coast of countries where abortion is illegal.
OTTAWA – Saint Paul University is being accused of stifling free speech on campus after the Catholic university abruptly cancelled a pro-abortion film and accompanying presentation by Planned Parenthood.
