Fr. Paul Hansen has worked in plenty of dangerous places in his missionary work, always following one simple rule:

“I would never tell my mother, when she was alive, where I was going until I came home and I told her where I was. Because she wouldn’t sleep,” said the native of Saint John, N.B., who has done social justice work in 82 countries, including the Middle East and the former Soviet Union.

Several years ago, the movie Argo won the Academy Award as best movie of the year. I enjoyed the movie in that it was a good drama, one that held its audience in proper suspense even as it provided some good humour and banter on the side. But I struggled with several aspects of the film.

For Canadians, the award season is not over just yet.

After the Grammys, the Academy Awards and other high-profile American awards shows have come and gone, there is still the JUNO Awards, which air on CTV March 15 from Hamilton, Ont. The JUNOs honour Canadian musicians and recognizes their artistic and technical achievements in music over the past year.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Catholic Register writers and editors were honoured with 10 awards, including three first-place prizes, at a gala banquet held June 20 to recognize excellence in Catholic journalism.
