ImageMISSISSAUGA, Ont. - There will be no more sweating it old school in Catholic schools west of Toronto. The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board has passed a no-sweat policy for school uniforms, team jerseys and employee clothing.

The Catholic board will work with the Worker Rights Consortium to monitor factories which manufacture school clothing and ensure that International Labour Organization standards are met. Where standards aren’t met companies, the WRC and the board will work to raise standards rather than simply dropping contracts and putting the factory workers out of a job.

Students at RF Hall Secondary School in Caledon were given credit for pushing the school board to adopt the no-sweat policy.
