TORONTO - Toronto’s archbishop is inviting members of the business community to join him for a Lenten Mass and breakfast on Feb. 20.
Archbishop Thomas Collins said he wants to take the opportunity to pray with and to get to know those in the business community.
“Lent is a time that makes us think about our relationship with God; it is a time that makes us jointly responsible for one another; it detaches us from our selfishness, small-mindedness, meanness and pride; it is a time that enlightens us and makes us understand better that we too, like Christ, must love God and serve one another,” Collins said in his invitation.
“I am hoping that this gathering will start a tradition for us in the archdiocese of Toronto whereby the business community can come together in the downtown core for prayer, fellowship and teaching on a regular basis.”
The Mass and breakfast will take place at the Delta Chelsea Hotel at 33 Gerrard St. W. Mass will be celebrated at 7:15 a.m. followed by breakfast and Collins speaking on the meaning of Lent. It wraps up at 9:15 a.m. Cost is $25.
Fr. Thomas Rosica, C.S.B., CEO of Salt+Light Television, and Fr. Joseph Schner, S.J., president and rector of Regis College, will help Collins in the organization of the event.
