TORONTO - St. Gregory’s Church in Etobicoke is celebrating its 50th anniversary as a parish on Sept. 16 with a 3 p.m. Mass
Although St. Gregory’s Church was not built until 1959, the parish was established as a part of the archdiocese of Toronto in September of 1956. Fr. Henry Michael Clarkson celebrated the inaugural Mass of St. Gregory’s parish in the gymnasium of Rosethorn Junior School in Etobicoke. Parishioners continued to gather and worship at Rosethorn for three years until the construction of their church was completed in September of 1959.
Auxiliary Bishop John Boissonneau will be celebrating the anniversary Mass. A reception will follow in the gymnasium of St. Gregory’s School, located beside the church at 122 Rathburn Rd.
