Reporter/Content Creator

The award-winning Catholic Register is seeking a Reporter/Content Creator. This is a unique opportunity to work at a national newspaper, which has provided Canadians with Catholic news, commentary, and visual journalism since 1893.

This opportunity will appeal to journalists who are self-starters with three or more years of grounding in producing fair, accurate and balanced content on a weekly basis.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong knowledge of the essentials of the Catholic faith as expressed in the Church’s teaching documents, be comfortable working in a Catholic journalistic environment, and accept that the precepts of the Church are at the heart of Catholic journalism
• Experience writing for a specified audience at a community news gathering medium
• Demonstrated skills in website content production, as well as in photo and video creation
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• A university degree, or equivalent work experience, in a field requiring superior ability to communicate fair, accurate, balanced and accessible content.

This is a full-time role with flexibility to accommodate two part-time positions in lieu. With a start date of summer 2023, this role offers flexible work arrangements (on-site/remote/hybrid) and a competitive compensation and benefits package.
