Archbishop Leo bestows Papal Honours on six

Archbishop Francis Leo presented Papal Honours to six Catholics in the Toronto archdiocese for their faithful service to the Church.

At a Nov. 30 ceremony during evening Mass at St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica, Leo recognized James Milway, Michael Fullan, John Gennaro, Jospeh Mancinelli, Anthony Primerano and Silvija Vigeon with Papal Honours. These recognize individuals exhibiting “the highest standards and values in making significant contributions to the Catholic Church.

Milway was honoured with the Knight Commander of the Order of St. Gregory the Great, Fullan, Gennaro and Mancinelli received the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Cross, while Primerano and Vigeon received the Benemerenti Medal.

Milway has been deeply involved in the Catholic community and recently retired as Chancellor of Temporal Affairs for the archdiocese; Fullan was executive director of Catholic Charities for 29 years before his recent retirement; Gennaro has been involved in numerous organizations, including Serra International, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem; Mancinelli is a former school board trustee and has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 40 years; Primerano has been deeply engaged the Catholic community; and Vigeon was a 35-year employee of the archdiocese.
