Oklahoma farm community honours hometown hero on path to sainthood

Father Stanley Rother, a priest of the Oklahoma City Archdiocese, is pictured in an undated photo. He was brutally murdered in 1981 in the Guatemalan village where he ministered to the poor. Father Rother will be beatified Sept. 23 in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics jumps into Bible, pot debate

The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics briefly used its official Facebook page on Aug. 26 to debate marijuana and the Bible.

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics briefly used its official Facebook page on Aug. 26 to debate marijuana and the Bible. After two commenters posted references to the Bible in response to a story about the detrimental effects of marijuana on the brain, a bureau employee engaged them in a theological argument.

Oklahoma Supreme Court rules Ten Commandments monument must go

The Oklahoma state Supreme Court ordered a monument featuring the Ten Commandments be removed from the state Capitol grounds June 30. An attorney general who planned to petition a rehearing argued that a similar monument in Texas, pictured above, was found constitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court.
