Archeologists’ race against time in Jerusalem

One of Israel’s leading archeologists working on the Pilgrimage Road excavation near Jerusalem’s Temple Mount said that with so much new construction underway around the Holy City the rush is on to document and preserve the past before it’s too late.

Tests offer new information on date of site believed to be tomb of Christ

WASHINGTON – Scientists who helped restore a shrine above the site believed to be the place where Christ was buried say testing of samples has dated the tomb to at least the fourth century.

St. Paul’s has a tall order in Goliath ancient dig project

The Biblical Archaeology Laboratory at St. Paul’s College, part of the University of Manitoba, is a partner with Bar-Ilan University in Tel Aviv in the excavation of the ancient city of Gath, the birthplace of the menacing giant from the David and Goliath story.
For nine years, students from St. Paul’s College have been helping to uncover the life of Goliath, one piece of ancient pottery at a time.

Relics and artifacts can help us ‘find Jesus’

The ancient town of Trier marks the 500th anniversary of the first public appearance of the Seamless Robe of Jesus, reportedly worn during, or shortly before his crucifixion. Some 500,000 pilgrims are expected to visit the relic through May 13.

Why are we so fascinated with any historical artifact — relics, as some call them — associated with Jesus?
