First, listening to one another is a significant step towards promoting Christian unity. God calls us to listen, not to hear. Because we all have different values and standards, it is crucial that we get the opportunity to listen and understand each other. If we open our ears to what other church societies have to say, we will be able to build a way of communicating effectively. Communication is the key to developing unity with other churches. In addition, opening our ears also takes the meaning of opening our hearts to God and others. By opening our hearts to others, we will become a stronger and closer family.

Furthermore, praying for unity can be as effective as listening. Prayer is powerful and has the ability to change a situation. If we loosen our tongues to pray openly and meaningfully, God will definitely hear our prayers and answer them. We have to stop feeling insecure when speaking about God. Our courage to pray for unity will inspire other communities to the same.  

Moreover, reaching out to those who need our help is a great way to become united. In many parts of the world, people are suffering. There are the sick and the poor and the dying. There are children who have been abused, raped or put to work as child soldiers. There are wars breaking out and families that have been broken. Nuclear weapons have arisen in North Korea and many are living in fear. Counselling is needed in many regions.

In this world, God needs Christians to be candlelight in the darkness, setting an example for the rest of the world. We need to open our ears to hear their sorrows and loosen our tongues to preach the message of God. We cannot do this as a separate religion, but as one church. God does not want us to be segregated into different communities. He wants all to come together in union with Him. By helping the needy with other Christians, we can realize that it is not our differences that matter, but it is our ability to serve God together. We may have different viewpoints and opinions, but we all have the same foundation in Christ.

In conclusion, we can promote Christian unity by listening, praying and acting together. Let us all hope to find in ourselves the courage to listen and not simply hear; the courage to pray and not simply speak; and the courage to act when we are called to. Together, we will be able to become the church that God wants us to be.
