The papacy has been a major patron of music for more than 1,500 years, inviting master musicians to compose masterpieces for its liturgical celebrations. Now for first time it has taken its act to Canada.

When the suitcase from Not Just Tourists arrived in northern Ghana, it was like Christmas for the local clinic doctor.

Josie Grossi was 20 years old when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in May 1987. Her doctors didn’t give her much hope. They told her there was no known cure. There wasn’t any medication that could slow down the deterioration of her central nervous system and eventually, she would need a wheelchair.

When a young person enters a church for the first time, it can sometimes feel overwhelming, says 22-year-old Jessica Bews: “It helps to see a friendly face and a personal invitation to feel like they belong in the community.”

Athena Santos Roy’s dream is to walk and run and jump just like any other kid.

It’s a family tradition.

Mary Filangi was 37 years old when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000. It was a time of great fear and sorrow and helplessness, but even in the darkest moments, she never felt lost.

Sr. Priscilla Solomon was in her 30s when she began to rediscover her Ojibway roots.
