TORONTO - Fr. Henry Carr High School got a boost from the Toronto Police Service in its quest to build its state-of-the-art sports stadium.
The police services board kicked in $50,000 to help make the northwest Toronto school’s dream become a reality.

The school is hoping to build a stadium with an artificial playing surface, a six-lane rubberized track and rough-ins for night lighting and a scoreboard. A second phase, to come later, would see seating, locker rooms, outdoor basketball courts and a mini-soccer pitch added.
Last summer, the project was granted $1.069 million in recreation infrastructure funding from the provincial and federal governments. The school must raise another $523,000 to make the stadium a reality.
The police contribution is the latest boost to a campaign that has seen high-profile alumni such as former NHLer Pat Flatley, NFL/CFL alumni Kerry Carter and actor Enrico Colantoni help their alma mater. The three were involved in a fundraising dinner in November that raised $35,000.
