London Catholic board seeking input on values, mission

The London District Catholic School Board will be holding an input session Feb. 29 allowing community members a voice on the values, vision and mission of the Catholic education system.

“We thought the best way to see if we are on track was to go back to our various constituencies and let them tell us how they think we are doing,” said Philip Squire, chair of the London Catholic board. “The challenge will be to talk to people about expectation versus what reality is.”

The two-hour meeting starts at 7 p.m. and will take place at four locations within the board’s territory in southwestern Ontario: the Catholic Education Centre in London, St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in St. Thomas, Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School in Strathroy and St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Woodstock. The local trustee and superintendent will be at their respected location that evening.

All students, staff and parents are encouraged to attend but are requested to RSVP at (519) 663-2088 ext. 40004 or by e-mailing [email protected] prior to the event.

“We’re just trying to get a feel for the numbers,” said Squire. “If more people walk in all the better.”

In addition to the four locations, community members unable to participate in person can still have their voice heard by visiting the Your Voice Matters page on the board’s web site (www.ldcsb.on.ca) and posting a message. 

“Something I am really going to be interested in is whether any of our students go online and do that. We don’t hear enough from our students,” said Squire.
