Abortion caravan comes under attack as pregnant team member is egged

As the New Abortion Caravan makes its way across Canada, it has drawn a variety of reactions.

One of the most aggressive shows of disapproval came when a pregnant team member was egged, said Stephanie Gray. And in Winnipeg, a group of about 30 protesters gathered outside Living Christ Community Church, where the members were presenting, beating on pots and pans.

“We’ve had people swear and yell at us,” Gray, executive director of the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform, told The Catholic Register.

“Some people are upset, but others are thanking us for being on the streets,” she said. “In fact, one of our team members spoke to a teenager whose friend is pregnant and considering abortion and that teenager is now going to try to change her friend’s mind.”

Since its launch in Vancouver on May 29, the pro-lifers have brought their graphic images of aborted fetuses to the Lower Mainland in British Columbia, including Burnaby, Surrey, Aldergrove and Chilliwack, through Kelowna and into Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Brandon, Winnipeg and Thunder Bay, Ont.

The latest project of the caravan  will be in London June 25, Toronto June 26-28 and Ottawa July 2.

The presentations are really conveying the message that the New Abortion Caravan is the “beginning of the end” of abortion in Canada, said Gray.

“This is the catalyst of an 18-year plan we have to make sure abortion is ended in our life time.”
