We really do have an amazing nation!

As we celebrate Canada Day, it’s not too difficult to get down on our country right now.
Look around: sleaze and taxpayer abuse emanates from the Senate; big-city mayors allegedly hang out with drug dealers and mobsters; business and political leaders seem to turn a blind eye to the ever-growing gap between rich and poor; the list goes on and on.
On a business trip last week to the Yukon, I had one of those “gotcha moments” while standing and looking at — of all things — an old stern-paddle boat in dry dock called the S.S. Klondike.
An overwhelming feeling came over me that this is the best darn country in the world with its diversity and expanse, its people and our struggles over the years, and our history. Anyone who says Canadian history is boring is either narrow-minded or not well versed.
