New director named for CCCB’s national liturgy office

OTTAWA - The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) has named Fr. Terrence J. Fournier its new director of the National Liturgy Office.
Fournier will replace Fr. Bill Burke who served six-and-a-half years in the post and most recently oversaw the transition to the new English translation of the Roman Missal.
Burke has been recalled to the Antigonish diocese.
Ordained in 1993, Fournier is incardinated in the Sault Ste. Marie diocese where he has been serving as diocesan co-ordinator of Liturgy, Diocesan Master of Ceremonies. He has also been the contact for the vocations office and pastor of St. Stanislaus, St. Pius X and St. Christopher parishes.
Fournier has chaired the Ontario Liturgical Conference since 2011. His educational background includes studies at L'Institut Catholique de Paris (L’Institut Supérieur de Liturgie) in sacramental theology with a specialization in liturgical studies.

Marie, for his great generosity in allowing Fr. Fournier to serve the conference at this time,” said CCCB general secretary Msgr. Patrick Powers in a statement. “I welcome Fr. Terrence to the CCCB staff and wish him every possible happiness and success during his stay with us.”
Fournier’s CCCB appointment begins Sept. 1.
