There is a time for everything and a time for every affair under the heavens. The author of Ecclesiastes could well have been writing a script for my summer.
This month, my son embarked on a new, exciting life as a university freshman. Last month, we bade farewell and loaded up the trucks to help move our parish priest of seven years to a new parish.
A time to plant, and a time to uproot the plant. A time to tear down, and a time to build.
Earlier in the summer, I used a couple of weeks of vacation to escape to my childhood home in Cape Breton. The beautiful and tranquil spot, unspoiled by the hustle and bustle of modern-day chaos, was the perfect location for seven of my siblings and myself, spouses and a host of our children ranging in age from mid-teens to early 30s to stage an impromptu multi-generational reunion...
