As of Friday morning, Nov. 15,  Canada’s Catholic aid agency had raised over a quarter million dollars in emergency relief for the typhoon stricken Philippines.

The Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace launched the campaign on Nov. 11 and on Nov. 13 received 489 donations in one day.

The organization had already pledged $100,000 from its emergency funds before it began appealing for donations.

There were 3,631 confirmed deaths as of Nov. 15. The Philippines National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said 1,871,321 people have been displaced  and more than nine million affected by the killer storm.

All donations to Development and Peace are eligable for matching Federal Government funds.
