Leahy sets Christmas mood in Toronto

TORONTO - Fans of the fancy fiddle work of Ontario’s very own Donnell Leahy will have three chances to see the Lakefield native perform in Toronto this holiday season.

On Dec. 9, Leahy and his family will perform the first of three shows at Roy Thomson Hall beginning at 8 p.m., with two performances the following day.

Natalie MacMaster, a fiddling phenom from Cape Breton Island, N.S., and Donnell’s wife, is to join her husband. The Juno Award-winning husband-and-
wife combo will also share the stage with seven of Leahy’s family members for the performances. It’s the third year running they have performed and has become an annual tradition.

Those feeling festive this December can also treat themselves to the Barenaked Ladies, Messiah and the Bear at Roy Thomson Hall as part of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s Christmas concert series.
