New executive director for CCAS in Toronto

TORONTO - A new year brings a new exective director for the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto.

Janice Robinson has been appointed to the position effective Feb. 2. Robinson will take over from long-time executive director Mary McConville.

“Janice is highly regarded in the sector as a visionary, strategic leader who has demonstrated her commitment to excellence in the delivery of service to children,” said Richard Platti, president of the CCAS board of directors.

“She is committed to evidence-based services, quality assurance outcomes and strives to promote a respectful, productive work environment through an ethical, anti-oppressive culture. We are looking forward to Janice working with staff, foster caregivers, volunteers, community partners and the board to articulate a clear vision for the future of CCAS.”

Robinson brings 27 years of experience in child welfare as an executive, senior manager and child protection worker. She has been executive director at the Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand-Norfolk since 2008 and was that society’s director of service for five years prior to that. She also held a number of positions at the Brant Children’s Aid Society from 1988 to 2003.

Robinson has also provided leadership on a number of provincial child welfare initiatives over the years. She holds a Master in Social Work from the University of Toronto, is completing her Doctorate in Philosophy in Social Work at McMaster University and is an instructor at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Faculty of Human and Social Services.
