Lectio divina hits the road

TORONTO - Cardinal Thomas Collins is taking his Lectio divina series across the Greater Toronto Area this year.

With the temporary closure of St. Michael’s Cathedral, Collins will be holding his Lectio divina series in different parishes each month. It will be held in many far-reaching municipalities, reaching parishes in all four corners of the archdiocese, including Brampton, Oshawa, Mississauga and Barrie.

“This is a great opportunity for Lectio divina to travel throughout the archdiocese and for those that may not have had the chance to experience this form of prayer, to participate with Cardinal Collins. We pray that it will open the door to a whole new audience,” communications director Neil McCarthy said in a statement to The Catholic Register.

This year’s Lectio divina series will continue from last year’s reflection through the Gospel of Mark.

The first of the series will be held at St. Paul’s Basilica in downtown Toronto on Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. There will be no Lectio divina in October while Collins attends the Synod on the Family in Rome, but the series will return again on Nov. 1 at St. Peter’s arish.
