Two years

This trip has been two years in the making. I can’t help but think back to when I first decided that I wanted to go on this pilgrimage.

It was before I graduated university, before I had my own income and before I had any plans for the future. I just knew that there was an adventure in Krakow that was waiting to happen. It seems foolish now, but somehow I knew that I would be here eventually.

I can’t help but think back to all the scrimping and saving I’ve had to do. I remember all the nights that I couldn’t go out with friends because I had to make sure I made the next payment. I dreaded the early mornings that I spent cooking pancakes, putting on plays and organizing dodgeball tournaments so that my parish group could help raise enough money. The energy, the stress and the sacrifice.

Krakow was all I could think about these last two years and now to be two days away from my flight departure time, I just have butterflies. I don’t know what’s going to happen. What does one do when a long-time dream is becoming a reality? I don’t know, but I’ll make every minute of it count.
