Bioethics conference examines health

What health means will be thoroughly examined by the Canadian Catholic Bioethics Institute at its 2007 conference in Halifax this coming May.
The call for workshop abstracts has been issued and a handful of speakers confirmed for the May 23-26 conference at Saint Mary's University. Under the general title "Wellness in Body, Mind and Spirit: Bioethical Dimensions," St. Thomas University president Michael Higgins will speak about "Mental Health and the Media," ethicist, pediatrician and Sister of Charity of Halifax Dr. Nuala Kenny will deliver a paper on "Canadian Health Care and issues of Justice in Mental Health," and Dr. William Sullivan will tackle "Non-treatment Decisions for People with Developmental Disabilities."
The Canadian Catholic Bioethics Institute takes on bioethical questions from the points of view of law, medicine, philosophy and theology. It's based at the University of St. Michael's College.
