Habitat for Humanity building with faith

TORONTO - Women’s work is good work, it’s the work of faith and sometimes it involves power tools.
More than 30 women of all faiths came together to do one of the toughest, dirtiest jobs in house construction at a Habitat for Humanity site in the Beaches neighbourhood of Toronto Oct. 16. They put up vapour barriers and drywall in six units on Kingston Road near Main Street.

The Canadian Centre for Diversity organized the Women of Faith Build event as a way of strengthening ties between women of different faiths.
“We live in a multicultural, multi-faith community,” pointed out Habitat for Humanity faith ambassador Robyn Allin.
“We work with people of all faiths.”
Though Habitat for Humanity remains a Christian organization, there’s nothing about being Christian that would exclude working with other faith communities — in fact, quite the opposite, Allin said.
“It extends the vision and the mission of Habitat,” Allin said.
