Regis lecture series focuses on media

TORONTO - Regis College will offer its annual series of Lenten lectures starting March 2 under the theme Media and Spirituality.
Some of Canada’s foremost personalities in media and contemporary culture will examine film, television, newspaper, issues of ethics, cultural trends, expressions of the divine and spirituality.
The series begins with the opening lecture entitled “Media Business, Media Ethics” March 2 by Sarah Crawford, vice president of public affairs for CHUM Ltd.
“Finding God in the ‛Global Village’: Spirituality in the Interim Times,” will be presented by Regis College doctoral student Nadia Delicata on March 9.
Following Delicata’s lecture will be Lloyd Baugh, S.J., a professor at the Gregorian University in Rome who this year holds the Fr. Peter Nash, S.J., chair in Religion at Campion College in Regina. He will speak on “Who is the God of my Devotion? Sacred Images and Prayer” on March 16.
To conclude the series, Geoff Pevere, film critic for the Toronto Star and host of the movie review series Reel to Real, will present “The Transcendental Screen: Spirituality in the Movies” on March 23.
