ShareLife kicks off corporate campaign

October 27, 2006

ShareLife , the fund-raising arm of the archdiocese of Toronto, has set the bar a little higher for its 2007 corporate campaign. At a campaign launch Oct. 19, it was announced that the goal for next year is $1.4 million.

That target is $150,000 higher than the 2006 goal, said a ShareLife spokesperson.

According to ShareLife, more than 200,000 people were helped last year by the 30 social service agencies funded by ShareLife within the archdiocese.

The corporate campaign provides slightly roughly 10 per cent of the total funds raised by ShareLife. It reaches out to Catholic businesses and businesspeople in the archdiocese to get them involved in helping the poor, vulnerable and suffering.

The new campaign chair is Colleen M. Johnston, executive vice-president and chief financial officer for TD Bank Financial Group. The campaign executive team also includes past chair Maurice Hudon and vice-chairs Joseph J. Markson, H.J. Janthur, Al Petrie and P.J. Rossiter.

In 2006, the corporate campaign raised $1.325 million, exceeding its goal by $75,000.
