TORONTO - The University of Toronto and more than 25 sponsors will organize this year’s Peace Week on campus from Nov. 5 to 11.
Peace Week will be filled with many presentations, forums, music, art and reflection. The main focus is to remember the soldiers who’ve fought for Canada and to bring about a world of greater peace.
Among the many speakers is Christian Peacemaker Teams member Jim Loney. Loney, a former hostage in Iraq, will be making his presentation on Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Hart House.
Another event is the Peace Concert with the Celebrate Peace Tour featuring Snatam Kaur and an opening prayer and drumming performance by Medicine Song Woman and Brenda MacIntyre. This will take place on Nov. 5 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Hart House.
A Remembrance Day War Child Benefit Concert will take place at the Hart House on Nov. 11 from 7 p.m. to midnight.
The events and presentations held during Peace Week are sponsored by more than 25 groups including the University of Toronto’s Catholic, Lutheran and Sikh chaplaincies.
