Rocket’s red glare

October 10, 2025

I must reply to Fabiano Micoli for unreasonably attacking modern climate science. Over the 600 million years to which Micoli refers, how many have been fit for human habitation? The important question is: what has happened to CO2 levels and the global temperature over the last 200 years? Both CO2 and temperature are going up. The CO2 molecule reflects infrared (heat) back to the earth. NASA has intensively studied and documented this, and anyone who flies in an airplane trusts their life to NASA science. If you do not trust NASA, keep both feet on the ground.

Luke Stocking’s column “Climate change conversion ignored” mixes the perfectly legitimate goal of protecting our planet with the scientifically unproven assumption CO2 is destroying it. He does so by referring to COP 30, which stands for Conference of Parties, a large annual UN meeting to promote net zero globally. Net zero’s goal is to drastically reduce CO2 emissions because it is believed they are the primary driver of climate change. But is that true?Six hundred million years of temperature and CO2 concentration data reveal no direct link between them. When temperature was high, CO2 was low and vice versa. The whole raison d’être of COP falls apart with that data alone.
