Letters to the Editor

Simple syllables

January 24, 2026

The gift of writing, of story-telling, and surely too of song writing, is for the benefit of those reading and listening. When and if the writer or composer seeks to bring attention to him or herself with the use of strange and multi syllable words or phrases, rather than making the work easy for all to read the most important object is surely somewhat lost. We should not have to carry a dictionary or laptop to discern the meaning of strange and multi phrase words The Editor's recent quotes “Joseph also went up” and “The Angel said unto them" contain no more than three syllables of familiar words.
