Nature, desire and soul, we rarely integrate these well. Yet they are so inextricably linked that how we relate to one deeply colours the others; and, indeed, spirituality itself might be defined as what we each do in terms of integrating these three in our lives.

The line of accusation was originally posted on a particularly hysterical and angry web site by someone who, oddly enough, had me speak at a conference he’d organized a few months ago, at which I received a standing ovation. How quickly opinions can change!
VATICAN CITY - Canonization week in Rome served as something of an informal annual general meeting. The universal Church was catching up with herself after a momentous year since Conclave 2013, and everyone was talking about our new Holy Father. Over these weeks, I hope to share with readers some of what I heard about Francis’ reforming papacy from those in Rome from around the world.
When I first went to Krakow I was overwhelmed by the expectation that I wanted to hear about the Holocaust. I now understand this was because most North American tourists know the city as the backdrop to the film Schindler’s List. But back then I walked through the “Jewish Quarter” with increasing unease as my guides cheerfully pointed out the Jewish secondary school (closed 1939, never reopened), the kosher restaurants, the “working” synagogue and the kosher ice-cream stand. They found this last amusing.
