Friars' Student Writing Awards 2018

The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement-Graymoor and The Catholic Register are proud to present the 2018 Student Writing Award.

"Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power." (cf. Exodus 15:6) 

Students should carefully read Scripture passage Exodus 15:1-21 and then submit a 500-word essay that responds to the question: 

Just as the Israelites sought delivarance from enslavement, in contemporary society the dignity of all people is threate ned by new enslavements to poverty, violence, injustice, additions. In what ways can Christians of all denominations work together to stave off these assaults to human dignity? Explain.

The top three essays will be edited and published in The Catholic Register

Contest Rules:

All submissions will be read by a panel including professional journalists, and judged on overall merit. Contestants must be 14-18 years of age, and currently enrolled in an Ontario secondary school or equivalent program. Essays must be no longer than 500 words in length and submitted on or before the contest closing date.  Include your full name, email address, phone number, and name of your school on the front page of your essay.

Deadline for entries is Monday, January 8, 2018.
