World organizations make education for child refugees a priority

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attend the opening of the World Humanitarian Summit May 23 in Istanbul. The two-day gathering was conceived four years ago by Ban. In preparation, 23,000 people were consulted in more than 150 countries, according to U.N. officials.

Inspired by the Syrian crisis, a global fund for education for refugee children, announced at the World Humanitarian Summit, was welcomed by aid groups, including Catholic organizations.
